and New York State as well as other locations. Known for her creative
imagination and unique combination of excelling at both makeup and
hairstyling (including her intricate body art) has earned Ann Marie a place
on CBS-4 editors A-List as one of Boston's leading hair and makeup
professionals.
Teaching Her Craft
The art of applying makeup for camera
and stage lighting is a specialized craft that Ann Marie has mastered. She
is a skilled instructor who is frequently asked to conduct theater arts
workshops at colleges and universities throughout New England. She
has expanded her teaching to include personal instruction for individuals
and aspiring makeup artists. Each member of the Anemone staff is
personally trained and supervised by Ann Marie in her signature style of
natural-looking makeup applications.
Recently Ann Marie introduced her own line of Anemone
products that
include cosmetics, skin care, and makeup brushes. Her quality products
consist of neutral and yellow-based colors and lightweight textures designed
for a modern, sheer makeup application.
Giving Back to the Community
For the past eight years,
Ann Marie has donated her personal time to Project Place - a non-profit
organization dedicated to providing educational programs and job
placement services to Boston area homeless people and individuals
moving from welfare back to the workplace. Due to the fact that a
portion of welfare recipients are the past victims of domestic abuse,
or in some cases, have never had to present themselves in a professional
work environment, Ann Marie teaches quarterly makeup workshops to
Project Place graduates.
Ann Marie remarks that her students are always so pleased with their new
looks. "They were so appreciative – each woman felt beautiful
and radiated with a newly found confidence that would help her enter
the working world. As a woman business owner, I felt particularly
sensitive to the needs of these women. When I realized that I had
something that could be of value to Project Place, I was compelled
to contribute."
In June 2002, Ann Marie was honored with a Community Partner Award in
recognition of her volunteer efforts with Project Place.
